This was painted en plein air while on holiday in Ibiza.
I spent the day lounging by the pool, dipping in and out of the water whenever the heat got too much, reading art books and occasionally picking up my brushes to paint the scene in front of me.
Whenever I look at this painting, I'm transported straight back to that day. The laughter, splashing about in the pool with my daughter, the intense heat, the glorious relief of cooling off, and, of course, an ice-cold beer!
