I never tire of painting at the beach, and Broadstrand in West Cork is one of those places I find myself returning to again and again.
What I particularly love about this scene are the subtle colours hiding in the cliffs. Those beautiful reds and blues are there if you really look for them. Sometimes you have to search a little harder, then pull those colours out and give them a bit more emphasis in the painting.
The distant headland, the little cottages and the trees all add to the charm of this place. And no matter how many times I return, the scene is never quite the same. The light changes, the colours shift, and there's always something new to discover.
I suppose that's why I love painting at the beach so much. You can visit the same spot a hundred times and still find something different to paint.
