Another outing with my painting group, Cork Plein Air, and this particular scene turned out to be the catch of the day!
To find the perfect vantage point, I had to scramble down a rather steep slope towards the river. No sooner had I settled in than a swan and its mate spotted me and decided to come over to investigate. Perhaps they were hoping I'd brought something more interesting than watercolours!
But it was the beautiful white bridge that really captivated me. Its striking shape stood out against the surrounding greenery, while the reflections in the river created a wonderful sense of light and movement.
I particularly enjoyed the contrast between the crisp, bright structure of the bridge and the softer, more fluid shapes in the water below.
A lovely subject, a little adventure getting to it, and some rather curious company. All in a day's plein air painting!
