Wistfully Watching the Sea

Forever destined to remain on dry land.

I often wonder about the life this old boat once had. The journeys it made, the weather it endured, the people who sailed aboard it. If only boats could talk, I'm sure this one would have a few stories to tell!

I painted this en plein air during Art in the Open 2026, in the little village of Passage East.

The boat now sits proudly on display beside the village green, overlooking the water. Its days at sea may be long behind it, but at least it hasn't been taken too far from home.

And if it had eyes, it could still see the sea!

Original Watercolour Painting

Size: approx. 11 × 14 inches (27.9 × 35.6 cm)

Painted on Arches 300gsm cold-pressed watercolour paper using Daniel Smith Extra Fine watercolours.

Sold unframed. Any framed images are for illustration purposes only.

Worldwide shipping calculated at checkout.
