List of materials

Please note that paints and brushes are just a guideline. For beginners a multipack set of Cotman tube watercolours will do just fine. A selection of three different sized brushes is also fine. Eg. A rigger, a mop and a sable.

  • • French Ultramarine Blue

    • Cobalt Blue

    • Alizarian Crimson

    • Burnt Sienna

    • Cad Yellow

    • Yellow Ochre

    • Pyrrol Orange

    • Neutral Tint

    • Lavender

    • White (Gouache)

  • I use big and small mop brushes and pointed sable brushes, mine are mainly squirrel but there are good synthetics.

My mop is a Neef brush size # 10 (Or nearest size to, whatever you feel comfortable with, it just needs to hold paint and have a point)

I have a selection of sables and small mops, again whatever you have at hand that you feel comfortable with.

A rigger or needle point for fine details and lines.

  • A sketch pad between 250g and 300g, fine or rough, doesn’t matter. Mine is a Mole Skin long landscape sketch pad that’s pages are fine on one side and rough on the other. I do like to use the long landscape pads.

Paper for finished painting can be Arches, Saunders Waterford or alike, 300 grams / 140 lb Rough texture off white

  • • Tissues

    • Masking tape

    • 4B pencil (or nearest to)

    • Water spray bottle

    • Water container

    • And a willingness to laugh and learn!!
